It’s wild to pause and reflect on where I am in life today. If 16-year-old me, 18-year-old me, 25-year-old me, or even 30-year-old me had seen into the future, I wouldn’t have dreaded growing older the way I once did.
Today, I stand as someone with a graduate degree, a licensed therapist, and a homeowner the very first person to live in this home. I’m in a loving and healthy relationship. My family is closer than we’ve ever been. And I’m blessed with incredible friends who, even though I don’t see them daily (because introverted me loves to be home), still understand and love me unconditionally.
I got to start this morning on one of my favorite trails and later indulged in my favorite dessert simple joys that remind me how sweet life can be. To the flowers and gifts, I am beyond grateful. And to my family and friends who show up for me, and to everyone who messaged or called I love you all so much. Thank you a million times over. đź’ś
I am deeply grateful for every blessing in my life, and I know it’s all thanks to God—the One who carried me through genocide, refugee camps, heartbreak, and even the painful loss of a relationship with my parents. That same God has given me the strength to build the beautiful life I live today.
As I celebrate 36 years on this earth, I’m excited for the next chapter. I move forward with faith and confidence, knowing that the God who has never failed me will continue to guide my steps and shape my journey.
Happy birthday to me, and thank you all for being part of my life. đź’ś
